Rules for submitting a film to the FCFF:Submissions are NOT limited to residents of Falls Church, or even the DC metro area. While we will accept films of any origin or budget, the idea of the FCFF is to give medium to low budget films an outlet to be seen and judged. We are not expecting MGM to show any interest, but more the independent filmmaker, small studio, or backyard Spielberg who has put their heart into making something that they think others will like. If you have submitted your film to other film festivals, it is perfectly alright to submit it to the FCFF. Each filmmaker is limited to three submissions to the FCFF. While we have six categories (general fiction, documentary, horror/thriller, student film, animated, and avant-garde), we are pretty flexible in what defines each category. We aren’t likely to turn away your film because it doesn’t fit neatly into a category, but we do reserve the right to do so. Submission fees will be collected upon submission of the film. You can opt to pay by cash, check, or credit. Submission fees will only be refunded up until the date of judging. Once your film has been judged, the submission fee becomes non-refundable. Submissions without a signed/dated Entry Form will not be judged. All submissions must be accompanied by payment and meet deadline requirements to be accepted into the competition. Student productions include work submitted by individuals enrolled in an accredited high school or undergraduate/graduate program. No student work can have been produced as a work-for-hire. Don’t let all this quasi-legalize deter you! The whole process from submission to the announcement of the winners is supposed to be fun and rewarding…especially if you’re the winner!
